How Much Does Event Videography Cost in Sydney?

Typical industry price ranges for event videography and conference filming in Australia, what moves the price, and how to compare quotes. Industry averages, not VERSZO pricing.

Please note: every figure in this article is an industry average compiled from public sources. These ranges are not indicative of VERSZO Studio's pricing, and they are not a quote.

If you are planning a conference, launch or corporate event, you have probably tried to find out what event videography pricing looks like in Sydney and found very little. Most providers publish nothing. This guide pulls together typical industry ranges so you can budget realistically before you start requesting quotes.

Typical Industry Ranges

Publicly available Australian figures are limited and mostly come from production companies' own guides, so treat the numbers below as a rough benchmark.

What you are bookingTypical industry range (AUD)
Solo videographer, half day (about 4 to 5 hours)$900 to $1,000+
Solo videographer, full day (8 to 10 hours)$1,400 to $1,600+
Day rate across experience levels, Australia-wide$800 to $2,500+
Hourly rate, Sydney freelance videographersabout $95 to $410
Single-stage conference with an edited highlight reelroughly $1,500 to $5,000
Larger multi-camera conference coverage$5,000+

A few notes on these numbers. The day and hourly rates come from Vidico's Australian video production rates guide and Beverly Boy's Sydney freelance videographer pricing, which also notes that many providers apply a four-hour minimum. The conference ranges come from a US-based event videography pricing article and are the least certain figures here, so verify them against real Australian quotes.

What Moves the Price

Crew size and cameras. A single operator is the baseline. Every additional camera operator, and any specialist gear such as cinema lenses, gimbals or lighting, adds to the quote and is often itemised separately.

Length of coverage. Half-day and full-day bookings are the usual units. Short bookings often carry a minimum, so a three-hour event can cost the same as a half day.

Deliverables. A raw footage handover costs far less than a produced package. A 60 to 90 second highlight reel, individual session recordings, speaker cut-downs and captioned social clips each add editing time.

Turnaround. A highlight reel in 48 hours is a different job from one in three weeks. Rush delivery is usually priced accordingly.

Date and location. Peak dates such as weekends, public holidays and end-of-year season can cost more, as can events in central venues or outside the metro area where travel is involved.

Extras. Drone footage, live streaming, graphics and licensed music all sit on top of the base rate.

How to Compare Event Videography Quotes

Price is only meaningful against what is included. When you compare quotes from event video production companies, check each one for:

  • the number of operators and cameras on the day
  • hours of coverage included
  • the specific deliverables and file formats
  • the delivery date for each deliverable
  • how many rounds of revisions are included
  • who owns and can reuse the footage
  • whether photography is included or separate

A low quote that delivers raw footage in three weeks and a higher quote that delivers a finished highlight reel in two days are not the same product.

Planning Your Event Budget

Work backwards from what you will use the footage for. If the aim is a social recap, a single operator and a short highlight edit may be enough. If you want to publish every session, sell sponsorship on the strength of the footage or build a content library, you are buying a larger production and the budget should reflect that.
